[ He looks at all the flowers surrounding them, flowers he's never seen before -- Oh. Oh lord. How is this even possible in the first place?
Getting right back up on his feet, still gripping his head with one hand, he goes for Mao and grabs his wrist with his free hand and starts pulling him along. ]
[ And like that, Mao's being dragged, but he digs his heels in, literally, trying to stop them. The song's telling him not to leave, and he's not sure he can trust it but it is very loud. ]
Shut up and pick up the pace! Or else I'm going to leave you behind.
[ Mizuki can just easily do that, but everything about this -- the eerie atmosphere the forest is draped in, the flowers, the different voices that keep on resonating in his head -- is just too much. Why would Mao want to stay here? ]
[ Mizuki's tone doesn't exactly invite openness but Mao does at least stop trying to hold them back. He looks over his shoulder as they go, but of course there's nothing there but spooky flowers and the song and the voices. ]
... They told me I could see my dad. But that's stupid. You're right, we should get out of here.
[ If he says it's stupid before Mizuki can, maybe Mizuki won't. ]
[ Mao totally gets it, so Mizuki won't mention anything about Mao's father. He'd heard about what happened back then, and he'd totally sympathize but that's not really his thing.
But whatever. Gripping Mao's wrist tightly, he breaks into a sprint as he drags the younger boy out of the forest with him, the mysterious voice endlessly telling him that he'll never be alone anymore if he goes deeper into the forest -- well, in that case, fuck that! ]
Hurry up! I'm not about to drag you all the way out there when you're busy being dead weight, you know!
[ Mao's glad Mizuki lets it go without comment but this is super unnecessary. He said he'd go, didn't he!? ]
Ow! I'm running as fast as I can! Geez, Mizuki, what'd they say to you?
[ Must've been something pretty scary to get him to freak out like this, which is weird considering how persuasive and comforting they sounded to Mao. ]
[ But at least Mao is running. Good. They're almost at the exit, and Mizuki pushes Mao ahead, practically tossing him out before he himself jumps after him.
Did they do it? Did they finally escape? Let him just catch his breath for a moment. ]
[ Mao's not remotely surprised that Mizuki finds a way to dodge answering him but it's the least of his concerns right now. Mao manages to get past Mizuki when he pulls him but he stumbles over his feet, making it into more of a roll when he gets free of the forest.
[ Mao feels kind of like a rag doll here, going along only because he's got no idea what's gotten into Mizuki. He's always kind of... forceful, but this is on a whole different level. ]
All right, all right! ... thank you?
[ What is he even supposed to say here? Hopefully that will keep Mizuki from dislocating his shoulder. ]

What the hell!?

[ Okay. They've escaped, finally. Just gonna catch his breath because his legs are SO not made for running wild like that. ]
Don't ever get lured by strange voices like that again, you hear me? I might just tell your mother and brother on you.
[ Grabs his wrist again, and leads him away. ]
I'm gonna drop you off home. If you complain along the way, I'll really leave you behind.
[ SENA IS ACTUALLY COMPLAINING A LOT MORE HERE??? Poor Mao, honestly. ]
